I dont want to get into an arguement over stem cell research, its the fact that we dont understand it that makes me want us to explore it. I know it gets rejected i stated so didnt I. And Biology is really the only way to go for this century, all technological advancements have so many laws against them that its almost impossible to really "advance" to new things, we are just making old things better now, there hasnt been anything "new" in half a decade(besides what the government is hiding from us). Now Biology, genetic biology that is, has little laws against it currently, opening ways for many countries and illegal scientist to pursue science without thinking too much about ethics or laws. I think that as soon as some dabates(mostly here), are settled hundreds of articles and new researches will flood the world.

Also, most other industries are dwindeling, automotives are falling, nuclear advancement is very restricted and confined, agriculture is becoming a thing of the past, bussiness isnt really going anywhere anymore, the ISS is going to sustain more delays, so real space expansion wont start till mid-late 21st century. Nowthere are two things that are growing, computers and biology(health services/drug companies). Either one will lead us to a new age of information and overall society improvements. I hope for the best, truely i do. Lets just see how America deals with things, the rest of the world seems to follow. Still, i dont mean to nag, but it seems resentment towards the US is growing globaly, other world powers are forming. As you said China and India are coming up here to join us, and Russia is begining to expand its commerce so it wont be long till it once again "reverts to old ways".

Ditching our allies would be very stupid, the point i have been trying to get across is that the US has become very spoiled and arrogant the rest of the world BARELY deals with us. I am afraid to actually see the US push the other countries to the limit, sure they are a dominating force, but if the even if half the Security Council were to unite together against us, bad thing would happen. Not only would our economy collapse in weeks as european and asian investors pull out billions of dollars in stocks. But, our millitary, what can i say on this subject. Our millitary has become very ill maned, sure we have the best equipment and budget, but if we were to enter full scale war, half of all of our millitary equipment wouldnt have anyone to operate it. Plus, the companies that manufacture our current matterials might refuse to do that. Because so many companies have spread to other countries they will really have options and if i had the choice to catter to one person or catter to a dozen, than i would choose the dozen.

To actually start a research project on average youll need three diffrent permits, approval of administration, and a Department signature. Also, it will require constant report and observal by at least one government official. Plus, there are a bunch of Associations out there that will dig something up to prove any research unethical or unpractical as they feel. Very unfriendly world for any researches, unless of course you work for the government. I have a good friend who has been trying to get a good job as a nuclear physisit, but because hes from the former Soviet Union hes been cycled through the Foreign relations department so many times, and each time they tell him that they wont give him a green card. He meats all the right criteria, but o wait you worked for the Soviet Union. Sorry, we cant give you a green card... and then they hint that he might be able to get one if he will work for the government. Kind of unfair if you ask me.

Many areas of China are done with their revolution, some of their cities have more advanced building and transportation methods then we do here. China is just a very big country, if you look at how long it took us to Revolutionize and compare they arent doing so badly. Plus they have a lot more to deal with internally than we do, seeing as they have over a billion more citizens than we do.

Working for the USSR, i mean actually developing weapons really puts a lot of pressure on someone. He said he doesnt want to do that again, he is very tallented at what he does(i think one of the teams he lead helped discover a new element). So he would be able to get a job elsewhere in the world, yet he likes it here even though they denie him a green card. He would have a much better job if he did, but he says he gets along fine for now. Still i think its unfair, he hasnt or wont ever do anything bad, a person doesnt pick where he was born. And its not like they gave him much of a choice really, USSR was desperate for scientist and he was pretty much forced into it.

And in not only talking about Beijing, how about also Hong Kong and Shang Hi, both of which rival New Yorks revenue output(again more people, we have to factor that in).

well, EU depends a lot on america, but not for long, i think that in a few decades(20 years more o less) new countries will rise and give EU and other nations another market to use and they will have the option to not buy american stuff.

except from electronics(pc,mp3,ect) , you can already buy a lot of stuff not from america. Plus most of electronics are "thinked" in america but made in 3d world countries. So if half of the world(crapy countries) cuts relations with america, electronics will not be cheap anymore.

the things is that america forces you to trade with them, one way or another. dont get me wrong they have lot of good things and are excelent in a lot of things but they have an horrible foregein policy.

ps:russia is done, they dont have money for nothing, plus they sell weapons to everyone, with the problems that brings.

Your wrong about the US having lots of agrilculture we dont, most of our food is imported. We have a lot of grain farming but otherwise meet and dairy products are made elsewhere. Though we do provide a lot of raw matterial. We have technology, but lots of scientist are leaving, many european countries not only offering better pay, but better benifits. And our education system, although the best orginized, is not the most advanced or motivated. Students here are lagging behind by an average of 2 years compared to European students, or even Chinesse private school students. We are lossing our valuable brain power, and we cant afford new brain power because everyone who is remotely intelligent will want a good pay check and benifts, something say India or China wont have, and the Europe will offer more off. Europe produces a lot of luxury items(alcohol, jewelry, fine foods) as well as having a lot of old bonds and stocks that are worth billions by now.

No, im am not talking about Europian stocks, and your wrong there again not China or India, Japan leads second in the stock market, followed by Britain. I am talking about the amount of money they have invested in our stock market, they built are stock market really. They were the frist major investors, and some companies that have existed for about a century are now very wealthy, and a lot of their stock belongs to the once extremely wealthy(now collapsing) families of England, France and Ittaly. And no, when i was learing in Russia sure there was preset requirements, but there were many other electives there that students here wouldnt recieve untill college or even untill an masters program. Though i have to admit once they found out i was good in math they started pushing me in that direction more and more. Good thing i left, the education system here is a lot more fitting, but sometimes i feel like im just relearning things, and it makes feel like im wasting my time. O well nothing can be perfect.

they do have their own massive amount of R&D going on, but more of it comes from here. all those companies do have large R&D branches rooted in the US. I havent seen a patent in computer technologies not sold to japan yet.

many of the managers of these "japan based" companies are in fact Japanese-Americans or Americans. and the tight ties between the two countries in term of economy has them relying on us for the tech, and us relying on them for the production.
Japan is a production based economy, definately not a techno-advancement based one.

Brazil sell lots of stuff(agriculture and stuff from factory). Argentina sells a lot of grain and other stuff like that(in some areas we sell more that anyone in the world). Plus we make software.

yes, but they have limited markets that are way overdue for massive fluctuations. America's economy is far more rooted. and besides, there is never a lack of need for new technology

strictly speaking of economics, all of that is favorable.
it provides nice cash influx (unless they send away jobs)
besides, the biggest real inventors of stuff are small, individual based companies, not large ones.
