I strongly doubt your ti4200 will even run the game on the lowest settings...

that pc has to be 5 years old... at least...

aye sadly bud, you don't even meet the min req of processor speed and that 1.8 is actually very subpar to most pc users today. Graphics at 128 is amazing as well, most are 512 and above.

Not sure what your finances are, but you could build a descent rig for around 700 that would last u a good while.

The Athlon1700XP architecture is really old. The min req of a 1.8ghz probably reflects that of the new architecture Conroes and Yonahs , like my Celeron M or modern day Centrinos (conroes). New architecture chips are much more powerful then the old arhitecture chips. Your chips will struggle


For a quick fix...you could borrow spare parts and second hand stuff to upgrade that PC for less then 200$ probably..

for your AGP slot - simply search around for a second hand/old 9600pro , 9800pro 6600gt , X600pro . Im saying this because you probably have an old PSU you dont want to overload with the best AGPs out there - the X1950pro and 7800GS. If your psu is 400W or better , then maybe grab a X800 or a X850 , 6800 or a 7600 , or grab the best agp cards mentioned

for your athlon slot. Upgrade your Athlon1700XP to a Athlon 3200XP Barton Core. This Athlon single core rocks as its architecture is much better then athlons under it.

For your memory just pile 2 gigs of cheap FSB400 generic .. its cheap.

With a Rig - Athlon3200XP , X850XT and 2 gig of of cheap 400FSB ram , you can play Supreme Commander 2v2 on 10km maps no problem , and sins will play like a dream.

and of course, when you want a new videocard, you need a new motherboard, which means you need a new cpu, which means you might as well throw out everything but the powersupply and dvd drive.

Its not scaring away. It is truth. My Athlon xp 3100+ G-force 6600GT system runs sins well, but has some trouble with highest settings on large maps. My system is an old system, and i know it. I do plan on building a new system soon, but what i have will run the game good enough until that time comes.

I got it to run on my old desktop which must be a 2003er year. specs were/ are

Athlon 3000 XP (got updated later, not sure which one exactly, but something on those dimensions)
Geforce 4400 Ti
512 ram.

it ran it ok, but the planets were all ... were strange, a mix of transparent and uniform colour.

all in all, it might run, but I strongly advise against it. 1) there is still a risk involved 2) you won't get any of the game's beauty and 3) dont forget, I tested it on a substantially faster processor, so it is not even a total comparison.

I think you should pretty certainly be able to run on high at the least. The 7800GTX is still decent.
