I'm getting kind of frustrated that I have to dig so deep to see the progress of everything that's going on. It makes things difficult to keep track of. I have some ideas for bringing progress bars closer to the main screen. They seem sort of common sense, don't add to the clutter, and seem like they'de be pretty simple to implement.
It'de be cool if you could see the progress bars of a current upgrades/buildling/research on the main screen.
For example: Click on a planet. The Planetary Development Icon shows you how many developments are cued up, which is nice. But it'de be cool if it showed you the progress bar for the current one as well. Rather than having to click an additional button to see how close you are to that desperately needed development.... and it reconfirms to the user that the program IS indeed doing what I told it to.
Be cool if something similar happened for ship construction. That's actually more important to me, because I KNOW i cued up a cap ship, i shouldn't have to click an additional button to see how long 'til it's done. Although I guess this might get complicated if you have more than one factory in the gravity well, but hte progress bars as so miniscule it's wouldn't kill anybody to have two or three of them over the icon.
This way, when I click the planet, i can see not just numbers, but the Progress of everything that's going on at that planet at a galance, instead of having to click two or three menus deep to see the progress of my current ship buidling, then back out and click more menues deep to see the progress of my current plantary development.
Research is the most important one. It'de be really cool if the research icon had a little progress bar on it. This way I can know how close I am to completing my current research without having to click the button.
While we're at it, why not add a progress bar on the Pirates Icon too, so we know how long before the pirates are coming without clicking the button.
