Sins is a tremendous game. I delayed getting it for a few days to check out purchaser reaction (saved me some money years ago when MOOIII came out) but I'm really glad I have it now. I have found two aspects of the game that bother me, though.
The "retreat" hotkey is supposed to be "r", but it never seems to work. I have to select the icon with the mouse to get the ship/ships to retreat from combat. Bug?
Related to this, I will send a ship to a planet that had been previously scouted, get distracted, and discover that the ship arrived and was destroyed by enemy forces. The game tells you when an invading force, no matter how small, arrives, but does not tell you when an exploring ship is being attacked. I really wish that the game would tell you when (a) your ship arrives (it is a planet I have already scouted), or (

that your ship(s) are in combat. Better yet, how about an option for ships to auto-retreat when approached by hostile ships? This seems like a very basic feature, but for the life of me I can't find a reference to it in the manual or the options menu.
