One other thing. Capital ships wouldn't be something you'd unlock.

They'd be based on what tech tree you are currently at.

If you've studied techs like electromanetism, metals, computers, and particle acceleration, your capital ship would go at the speed of light, but not be as good an attacker if you studied plasma weaponry and fusion.

You'd only be able to study 4 tech types to create capitals. In the case of the militants, they'd have alot harder time then most, since they gotta steal other techs,

I thought we played this game because of good gameplay. But if you wanna judge ideas for not being well thought out, then please judge 99% of the ideas out there, including some from this game.

ok how about the a seperatist group from the TEC which have quick build time and cheap ships but that aren't very strong

or the aliens which are chasing them have found and cought up to the vasari hunting them and attacking other races

or a life form which isn't anything close to being a humanoid which thrives in cold temperatures, and uses weapons based on freezing or shattering stuff

or a race which only means of growing there population is to clone themself. and have organic type ships

i have yet to see a game or anything with birds of some kind as an intelligent race capable building thing

by the way the knight templars didn't force christianity on anyone they were formed to protect pilgrims in the holy land after the first crusade, it was the first crusaders which did enforce christianity on the local population. im not try to offend you im just saying it.

@Damien: If memory serves, the Alkari out of the Masters Of Orion universe were bird-like. And some interesting trivia for Earthings: there are no inedible birds. Anyone can eat any bird they like.

Personally, I would like to see aliens who use flying saucers. There's a lot of flying saucer lore out there, but they just don't seem to be sexy enough for the kids raised in the digital video generation who do modelling these days. Still, a flying saucer, despite its visual simplicity, is a versatile, aerodynamic design that above everything else is iconic. If you see a flying saucer, you know in a microsecond that it didn't come from home or anywhere near home. For Earth people, a flying saucer is alien.

Organizations like the Knights Templar have survived, not really that intact, since the early 1100's.

No it's not read the game manual.In there backstory they mention a lot about interstellar wars being the prime reason the Advent first sought out an isolated world.They never mention Earth. And plus yes we tend to record material. But what we see today about our ancient history is mostly a mere fraction of what has actually been recorded. Records are lost to the ages, through wars,diasporas and accidents. In fact heres a quote from the manual

"The origins of the Advent began well before recorded history. It is said they began as one of many broken peoples who sought spiritual escape on peripheral worlds following the great wars."

"The Trader Worlds Enjoyed a golden era of lucrative trade and relative peace under the strict guidelines of the interplanetary Trade Order. They had forgotten their ancient history of war and replaced it with a future of endless prosperity. The arrival of the Vasari caught the Traders completely unprepared."

This is implying that Humanity has suffered many many wars. Wars that have lead to a breakdown of where Mankind had come from. It would have meant much technolgy would have to be replaced. There are many examples that could explain it.

It's simple really you keep fighting until whatever Nations were there before have been destroyed.And with only a few survivng worlds being all thta was left of these vast interstellar nations. These few survivng worlds would be quite isolated as Satrships would be either rust buckets or heavily damaged from the war. The survivors would have to rely on primitive farming methods at best to survive. Hunter gatherer at worst. It would take many many years for these humans to get enough Tech just to go back to space. Let alone building a Starship unless whatever brought them there is still around. By the time each fragment of Humanity is once again tarveling amogsnt teh stars much history and knowledge would have been lost. They would have had a basic understanding of what happened based on stories and books written during the "Dark Age." But other records OLDER records dating back to pre space flight earth, The old super nations that came before them and other such knowlege would be lost. Or at least serioulsy fragmented.

Thank you. It was inspired by the Final War in teh Bolo series. It makes certian sense. The Final War was fought between the Human Concordiat and the Melconian Empire. The war quickly escalted when the Melconians nuked a Human colony. The humans did the same soon. Each side was hell bent on blowing up the other side. Both sides threw planet cracking nukes, Insidious Biological and chemical weapons.Entire worlds became unhibitable. Even Earth was nuked. Soon a Final batle was fought with what was left of both Empires.It ended with no victor both sides had killed each other. What was left of this vast interstellar empires was dust and memeories. Scattered human settlements remained,Isolated,cut off from one another. Whatever was left was reduced to Pre space flight technology. Some went back to a Hunter Gather society, Others Industrial farming. It took about two hundred years for humanity to even begin to get back to trying to rebuild. A lot of stuff was lost after the war. Technology,history,science,culture everthing had to be built back up again.

This seems to fit with what little backstory was supplied in teh game manuel. Its also
pretty cool. Maybe they should implement that?
