This is just a ideal, so I thank you in advance for your input.
So here is the ideal, instead of just building a "group of ships" each time you unit the create fleet button, you instead build a "fleet".
Right now as it stand, each time you group a fleet, the only things that happen, is that you control the engagement range, fleet cohesion and adds a retreat button. Also it auto foces fire and auto support, from what I have seen. As well add a pin on the empire tree.
Here where my ideal improves on that, each time you hit the create fleet button, a selection of fleet names come up. From here you select one of those names. The next time you hit the create fleet button, that name is removed, and there for the new fleet has to have a different name then any other fleet in service. If the fleet is destroyed or is disbanded, a new fleet can take up its name.
Each fleet name is also linked to the F# keys. So the first fleet for the Advent can be called by hitting the F1 key. Also each time this fleet is attacked, the fleet report it is under attack. So in my Ideal, the first fleet of the Advent is called the Council fleet. So instead of hearing, "our forces are under attack", we hear, "The Council fleet is under attack". In most RTS I have played, they tell me that when my forces are under attack, but not which ones. In my ideal, not only do you know that your forces are under attack, but also which fleet is under attack.
On top of this, I would like it if the ships in the fleet, got a bonus for being a ship in that fleet. So lets say that one of the fleets, is called the "Deep space fleet". The bonus in this case, could be that it gains your culture bouns, even if it is behind enemy lines (in which it is in a area with the enemy culture), as long as your culture controls more of the map, then your enemy.
This also opens up to allow for even more voice acting. Lets say that an enemy deep space fleet, attacks your council fleet. Then the system could tell you that the "Council fleet is under attack", at which point, other person ask "by who", and the person who said that the council was under attack, can answer back with "a deep space fleet". This would make the game more alive as there is more voice traffic.
Also to add deep, the first fleet has three abilities, while the second ti fourth fleet only have two, and the rest only has one. This means that you must put more ships in few fleets, in order to better use those fleet abilities, or make more fleets, to get more abilities. Powerful abilities vs. More abilities.
If you guy like my ideal, I will list the name of the fleets and there abilities. I'm also open to names and abilities for fleets which I have not come up with.
