For those people, like me, who downloaded and played the Spore Creature Creator Trial version thinking there wouldn't be SecuROM on it... THINK AGAIN.
J.M.Pescado over on MATY (more awesome than you) forums reports this about the Spore Creature Creator trial version.
"Scanning -> C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin\SporeCreatureCreator.exe

-> File Appears to be Digitally Signed @ Offset 0108B000h, size : 01508h / 05384 byte(s)
-> Suspicious MZ Header..
[!] SecuROM Detected - Version 07.36.0012
[!] Possible CD/DVD-Key or Serial Check -> Unregistered
- Scan Took : 1.140 Seconds"
There's no copy protection on it, HOWEVER.
It IS spyware, as the firewall picked it up trying to phone
home unsolicited. It looks like it it may also share your username with
the entire world, which is extremely dangerous if you foolishly used
your real name on your computer. [...] It's doing so by encrypted link,
and it's doing so before you even try to login. That is very
suspicious, particularly after it has been doing prolonged disk reading
prior to startup.
I will update whether or not the second half is true or not, story as it unfolds.
