I'm sure it's been discussed before,
You should have the option when attacking a planet to either bombard a planet and make it turn dark grey and be useless for the entire game.( Or puufffff and gone , even better!) This would be when you have plenty of income and the planet is of no srtategic use...just deny it to your enemy.
OR assault a planet with drop ships and then colonize it with basiclly the same mechanic as the current game. Minus the bombarding of course.......
