Conditions of defeat?

I was just wondering what the conditions are for you to be defeated... Because I was a little angry when I was defeated and I had a full fleet of capitol ships about to take another colony on a different star system...  It just seems odd that having your last planet destroyed is the reason you lose... I think it should include losing your capitol ships, colony shits, and your planets.

I think losing all planets is a fair condition. It's very rare that you would lose all of your planets, and then still have the fleet and resources left to populate another planet - starting again almost from scratch.

If the victory condition was as you suggest, winning players would have to scour the map to try and find that one last cap ship or colony frigate, which would further extend the already slightly drawn-out victory phase.

I believe, if you lose your home planet, which in theory be your last planet and you are unable to move your government, you face defeat, but usually by destroying all enemy planets is consider a win condition

I believe that Starcraft introduced a defeat-condition consisting of 60 seconds with no production buildings. (partialy-constructed buildings counted) That allows for the rare occourance when you have no buildings, but are capable of picking yourself up in a hurry.

I think it was warcraft 3. in sc, you lost when all your buildings were destroyed. not that it often came to that, as the game would be decided long before that.

Well... I didn't have just one cap ship... I had a full fleet and was in the process of relocating to another star system...  But i understand why losing your planets would be a defeat... the conditions for me actually succeeding that game were terrible... lol
