..and they might print it as a favor to a friend, but that does not mean it will sell and be populair with the audiance. And if it's not popular then you can forget the movie, merchandise, etc.

But by all means try. Even the most successful authors at one point had a dream of making it big.

Funny how some people can only look at something from the negative side.

Don't say you're writing a book. Yell about that you finally wrote it once published.

Superstition lead to many dissapointments for some talented authors before, i started to prefer poetry when Astral Media (the movie Network, Alliance, etc) simply cancelled (WGC has a knack for tricky contracts, btw) an assignment to one of my screenplays. Be aggressive in your own promotional quest for recognition and have **EXTREMELY** solid material first - then reveal (on your site) that someone really invested in your stuff.

From experience, it's a dominoe effect; news spread fast.

Get a formal membership there (owned & operated by Dana Brunetti & Kevin Spacey), read for awhile and observe as often as you wish, let the true critics pave you a road within rational perspectives. It's level entrance, minimal. Pre-requisite. For anyone creative enough to dare challenging others.

I'm writing a book too! I have two series. One is future and one is an alternate Earth.  I'm working on the alternate Earth one now (page 153ish) and making 3-d models of spaceships and technology for my futuristic series....good luck tho.

Despite registering, there doesn't seem to be anything prologue-ish kicking around (the above URL goes to an error page).

IMO a forum approach is overdoing it when you have merely set the stage for the rest of the book.  A blog approach would give you a more personal connection with those who are likely to read your book and puts the juicy excerpts on the 'front page' so to speak, as you continue writing.

As far as writing it is concerned, don't get yourself locked into doing it in sequential order.  The reader gets to experience the book in the right order, you can write whichever part needs writing most as long as things make sense when all the pieces are put together.

I removed the prologue, it was a limited time thing only (1 day only).
