Don't say you're writing a book. Yell about that you finally wrote it once published.
Superstition lead to many dissapointments for some talented authors before, i started to prefer poetry when Astral Media (the movie Network, Alliance, etc) simply cancelled (WGC has a knack for tricky contracts, btw) an assignment to one of my screenplays. Be aggressive in your own promotional quest for recognition and have **EXTREMELY** solid material first - then reveal (on your site) that someone really invested in your stuff.
From experience, it's a dominoe effect; news spread fast.
Get a formal membership there (owned & operated by Dana Brunetti & Kevin Spacey), read for awhile and observe as often as you wish, let the true critics pave you a road within rational perspectives. It's level entrance, minimal. Pre-requisite. For anyone creative enough to dare challenging others.
