Below is the status of where we are on the development of Elemental.

BETA 1: Game Mechanic Exploration (Fall 2009)

Initial Build: Basic Compatibility
Beta 1A: Initial Gameplay Skeleton
Beta 1B: Initial Economic system Implemented
Beta 1C: Initial AI system Implemented
Beta 1D: Initial Diplomacy system Implemented
Beta 1E: Initial Dynasty system implemented
Beta 1F: Initial Magic system implemented
Beta 1G: Initial Quest system implemented
Beta 1Z: Finalizing Stability

BETA 2: Game Play Beta (Spring 2010)

Initial: Caravans enabled, 3D Engine enabled, Multiplayer enabled, shops enabled, sieges enabled, visual battles enabled.
Beta 2A: Beta Fixes. Gameplay updates. Naval transports enabled. Naval warfare enabled. MP: Wars of Magic.

BETA 3: War & Peace Beta. (Summer 2010)

Initial: Finalized Diplomacy enabled. .Master Quest enabled. All Tech Trees enabled. Empires enabled.
Beta 3A: Combat Magic enabled. The Hiergamenon enabled. Tactical Battles options enabled. Morale and Tactical Battle AI enabled. Spell of Making enabled.
Beta 3B. Tactical Combat enabled.

BETA 4: Beyond Elemental Beta (Ongoing)

Map Editor, Item Editor, Tile Editor, Effect Editor.
Brad's Guide to Elemental Modding. Elemental Cloud Modding.
The Hiergamenon in-game.

Release: Elemental publicly available (August 24th)

Single Player: Beta Tester Content (spells, quests, characters released based on player feedback).
Single Player: Modding Tools: Race Construction Set.
Single Player: Quest Pack (a thank you for buyers).
Single Player: Monster Pack (a thank you for buyers).
Single Player: Notable Locations enabled.
Multiplayer: Custom Games.

Version 1.1: First major free update (30 days after release)

Usual performance, bug fixes, and other optimizations.
More optimizations for better Netbook support.
Single Player: New Content and Features based on player requests
Single Player: AI Wars

Version 1.2 (Second free major update (60 days after release)

Usual performance, bug fixes, and other optimizations.
New Features based on player feedback.
Brad's first serious mod example (Mini RPG).
Art Package for Modders to use (content for use by modders).
Multiplayer: Arena Mode

Copy Protection:

Retail Edition will have no copy protection on it whatsoever.
Digital version and updates will require Impulse to Download updates and install (but otherwise can be removed if the user chooses).
Users who do not have good internet access at home can use http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com to download Elemental and bring it home to install on their machines.
Multiplayer will require a valid customer ID to logon.

All is subject to change based on player feedback and our own determination on where the game is at.

That's just the thing, nobody knows... We just have to wait for the Devs to post an update. Could be today, could be next week, could be months before we, the late pre-order folks, get access.

Ah! Interesting... The last I had heard of this was last week when they said they would probably open up beta to pre-order people "next Thursday".

you could be right fenrus, normally they wouldnt release a build on fridays in case it would explode and they would have to fix it. so perhaps the party will start today for everyone.

I pre-ordered Elemental in January and I just downloaded the Beta 1G.

Check your emails, you should have received one with your serial for Elemental. Just need to register it with Impulse and that's it, you are able to download it.

You know ... I really think that shipping food from a Farm in City X all the way back to City Y via road would be nice. As in, City X no longer has the food, and City Y has the food. At least so long as the road remains intact.

As well as more housing upgrades ... need something better than a house. or rather, need somethings IN BETWEEN hut and house, and house can be the premier coupe de gran, just under apartment for population amounts.

Well, I DID preorder Elementals last year. Thing is, my Visa card expired a few days before the new openings for the beta and all I got instead of a mail telling me I had access was a mail telling me billing failed

Well, it FEELS like we are still in Beta 1F. And by that, I mean where are the quests?

Has anyone gotten a quest, and if so, where did you find it? Ive explored entire maps and researched nearly complete tech trees .... ????

There seems to be a problem with the quest files being placed in the right directory. See this post for a work around.

Yeah, the first post should be updated... AFAIK, Beta 2 will start in April.

Short of testing crashes, what are we still testing in 1G? Most of the issues I and others have reported seem to be resolved in the latest build, and certain assumptions we make about the game are no longer valid given the gameplay changes, so we can't really give reliable feedback.

Is there something Stardock still needs to sort out or do they want to do a monolithic release for Beta 2 and surprise us with a lot of new content? Just wondering on that.

probably. I doubt much feedback on 1G is helpful at this point. However we truly made a breakthrough by rederiving food as a Global resource (Net food is global).

This one change is truly epic, and I am proud.
