There's the MS Store like the Apple Store, third party apps go home.
seriously? Microsoft would love to have more third party apps in their store. actually many small developers sell their apps on the OS X app store exclusively, although they could distribute it on their own as well.
MS wants IE to be 'the' browser. Like Apple does with Safari.
so does Mozilla with Firefox. so does Google with Chrome.
Apple is basically proprietary. MS looks like its going the same way.
actually MS starts opening up a bit recently. they have been far more proprietary in the past.
