I only just discovered this, and perhaps there are others who have not yet found it. Looking at the "input menu" (lower middle button "input" on the options menu gets you there) can be quite revealing.
If you want to know how many mores or turns it will take a selected ship to get to a destination, press and hold the "ctrl" key and hoover your mouse over the desired tile.
