the ai will get better, brad is on this although gc2 was much more scripted than gc3 from what i understand, if gc2 is any indication, the excellent ai we want will come closer and closer to the end of development which is quite a while from now, for now, the available xml is being quite used by the community and hopefully will help brad with what he wants since i know he is being given a different base to start from than what he has been used to, hopefully he uses some of the community work on the ai that has been given to us plus what he must have more available to him from the developer standpoint.

Yeah the AI needs a lot of improvement when it comes to diplomacy type stuff, including declaring war.  It is especially annoying when one of the AIs declare war on you, then the very next turn they ask for peace.  For starters it is annoying that the AI can do things with diplomacy that the player can't; such as declaring war and then being allowed to attempt further diplomatic actions one turn later (ie: begging for peace).  As the player I am locked out of any diplomacy attempts with somebody I enter a war with for something like 20 turns.  Secondly it is annoying that the AI is dumb enough to declare war on somebody then beg for peace 1 turn later, before a single shot has been fired in the war.
