I would like the see an mode where you don't have to build a base or care about resource management. You start with a preset small army and get reinforcement per conquered node. Rule 1 would be that one only get one time reinforcement per conquered node and reinforcements are different from node to node. More important nodes bring larger reinforcements.
That would implements some other strategies. It could also help with alternative mission design and because of the limit of max reinforcements, units will become more important as you cannot build limitless units.

If this doesn't come with the vanilla game it would be a good thing for a game modification.
