Please add an AI 'game speed' setting to be using in conjunction with the existing difficulty levels.
I really like the game, but at least for me, as currently implemented, to do well on normal (and above difficulty) levels you have to be spot on with your timing, and go go go go, can't make a mistake in timing. That is fine for people that would like that sort of challenge, and for them maybe even leave the current game play as the default setting but PLEASE consider adding an additional setting for AI game speed.
By AI game speed I DO NOT mean the speed of units, construction time, etc. but I do mean how fast the AI makes its moves.
I would like the increased difficulty of the harder difficulty setting (smarter AI, better strategy, etc.) but with a relaxed time constraint. So an easier to play against version of the smarter AI's.
I think you will capture a (pretty good sized) segment of players that don't necessarily want an extremely fast paced game where they have to (almost flawlessly) jump around the map in the proper order getting everything moving or face being over run by the AI. There are people (like me) that want a challenging AI but also want to actually WATCH AND ENJOY the graphics, and the battles, and to do so that means not having to run off and do something else but actually be able to watch (at least some of) the battles.
I see this game setting as something you would be able to change while a game was IN PROGRESS (for single player games).
Build times, unit movement, resource acquisition times should all remain the same but just add a small delay to the time before the AI gives an order.
This could make for more enjoyable games that are a little slower paced but still difficult against a 'smart' AI rather than a dumbed down AI to control difficulty level. Or allow players to experience and learn from the smarter AIs without getting run over early on or the first 100 times they play a new difficulty level.
