Nvidea MSAA performance bug DX12

My shorte note ,indeed its not usual Nvidea released a driver on a game still in development ,but they did and obvius there is some work to do with DX12 that for what they did tell us will be fix before AOTS released the game.

Now about the problems that MSAA performance bug .

 

This is from Nvidea Community forums.

 As you all know, NVIDIA released the 355.60 driver specifically for Ashes of the Singularity’s Alpha, which is in itself a rare occurrence for a game still in development. Even so, we registered mixed results in our DX12 performance benchmarks with NVIDIA cards and clearly the company noticed all of this on its own, as they reached out to the press in order to give their side to the story.


We were able to get a detailed statement from NVIDIA’s Brian Burke, Senior PR Manager. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:
This title is in an early Alpha stage according to the creator.

It’s hard to say what is going on with alpha software. It is still being finished and optimized. It still has bugs, such as the one that Oxide found where there is an issue on their side which negatively effects DX12 performance when MSAA is used. They are hoping to have a fix on their side shortly.


We think the game looks intriguing, but an alpha benchmark has limited usefulness. It will tell you how your system runs a series of preselected scenes from the alpha version of Ashes of Singularity.

We do not believe it is a good indicator of overall DirectX 12 gaming performance.
We’ve worked closely with Microsoft for years on DirectX 12 and have powered every major DirectX 12 public demo they have shown. We have the upmost confidence in DX12, our DX12 drivers and our architecture’s ability to perform in DX12.


When accurate DX12 metrics arrive, the story will be the same as it was for DX11.
It should be noted that NVIDIA’s mention of a MSAA performance bug while running on DX12 has been contested by developer Oxide Games, which published a blog post of its own talking about some “misinformation” being spread on the Ashes of the Singularity benchmark. They also dispute the fact that this test is not useful, of course:
It should not be considered that because the game is not yet publically out, it’s not a legitimate test. While there are still optimizations to be had, Ashes of the Singularity in its pre-beta stage is as – or more – optimized as most released games. What’s the point of optimizing code 6 months after a title is released, after all? Certainly, things will change a bit until release. But PC games with digital updates are always changing, we certainly won’t hold back from making big changes post launch if we feel it makes the game better!
There’s also this cryptic but seemingly ominous tweet by Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock, which is publishing Ashes of the Singularity.



Our take
NVIDIA and Oxide/Stardock are at odds right now, and it’s easy to understand why. This is the first publicly available benchmark of DX12 performance and obviously NVIDIA would have liked to get different results than these ones; on the other hand, Oxide and Stardock aren’t interested in taking the blame for all of this.


Obviously, it is impossible for us to say where the issue really lies, but there clearly is one right now.

Of course, when it comes to consumers, there seems to be no cause for concern – whether there’s something wrong on Ashes of the Singularity’s Alpha or on NVIDIA’s 355.60 driver, it will probably be fixed way before the game’s release.


Read well ATI fans:

There’s no reason to think that NVIDIA cards won’t enjoy fairly similar DX12 performance boosts to what we have seen on AMD cards once the software is mature. As mentioned by Oxide in their blog post, DirectX 11 was quite terrible at first and that went on for a few years; DirectX 12, on the other hand, seems in much better shape already at least on the AMD side.
Let’s give it a bit more time and it will likely shine on NVIDIA cards as well.

My conclusion: Nvidea and ATI both great cards , dont try to spam a problem on Nvidea cards ,its a MSAA performance bug because this is 1 game with dx12 and not even on beta, because What’s the point of optimizing code 6 months after a title is released like they say,its need an almost finish version for that..

So has some one there answer me on Nvidea moderators ,this not a worry this actualy very good that is happend we like challenges.

That clarifies a lot, thanks for that.

Hopefully it all goes well for Oxide and Stardock and politics doesn't impact too much on this issue. Nevertheless, stick to you guns and if you have an argument, stick to the evidence and let it decide.

PS: I'm very idealistic.

Thanks for putting this together.

The one person spamming the forums, here and on Steam, with negative criticism of both Ashes and NVidia (you know who you are) is essentially a troll, trying to fire people up to get attention. Thankfully not too many people have taken the bait. Nonetheless that person keeps trying, and eventually it's possible that could lead to a ban as a violation of the forums terms of service.

Somehow, I think I read exactly this or something similar some time back. I, for one, am not concerned about any issues nVidia GPUs are having with DX12 right now. Things are going to change. Mightily, I bet.

I hope NVIDIA does work it out. 85% of people do have their GPU's.

 Your spam about AMD only card to play this game on DX 12, you might not notice but can cause problems to AOTS game sells you must stop it and understand this very early to make any exact comment.

Ashes is still in development, DX12 is new and DX12 drivers are still in development. Problems are bound to be popping up, solved and then new problems will appear and these in-turn will get solved until things are smoothed out.

If people find a problem a description of the problem may be useful to the developers who can try and do something on their end or pass it along to the driver developers. This has mostly been the case. Then sit back and in time the patches will come.

Yes  in time all will be fix honastly for me no matter, between Nvidea and AMD the important its give to players the best possible gameplay experience.

AOTS for now have some problems but with some time all will be ok, same for both Nvidea/Amd in time both will give the right drivers to all, we cant forget wy we play games.

 

its not only because quality for that i see a 4K movie, its to enjoy and play a game we like and have fun, wy we still talk about how good old games where!!

That Fable benchmark shows the same problem really.  The 980 Ti has a substantial edge in DX11 performance over the Fury X, but it evaporates in DX12 because they don't have all those uber optimized driver tweaks.  It's not really so much a problem as it is a lack of a benefit.

 

Based on this benchmark, there are some Windows 10 or DX12 issues with power management that are leading to reduced CPU utilization and shortchanging both cards, but hitting Nvidia's much harder.  This implies that they have a driver overhead problem in comparison to AMD, and will be back on top if they fix it.

I am pretty sure that original thing was from August.  Which was forever ago.

NVidia on DirectX 12 as this point is fine.
