Hey guys!
Unfortunately I only discovered Ashes about 6 weeks ago but I had to buy it immediately. The game is already quite advanced but I think its never too late for feedback!
First of all I love the general way the game is going and looking at the future features to come, it can only become a great game. In the following I will list some thing which bug me the most. I won't annoy any one with balancing issues or bugs, I assume those are all already reported or in progress.
Armies and Map Design
The idea of armies as such is great but I think the current map pool is unsuitable for it. The problem is that the terrain is often way too narrow for the army to move efficiently through it. Often there are enemy units at the end of a narrow passage and my army was forming a long tube to go through the passage.
The result? The front portion of the army advances on the enemy while the rest waits in behind. This renders the armies efficiency to zero. Not making an army and using a little bit of micro makes these fight way more efficient.
Maybe give us a possibility to decide the armies formation and the distance between units? Making a formation more narrow would result in higher combat efficiency but also makes it more vulnerable to artillery fire. So choose wisely!
Also I can only tell an army to move to a certain point, but not to face a certain direction, e.g. when preparing an advance or when waiting for the enemy.
Unit Icons
Maybe it's just me but after dozens of hours played I look at a build queue and still have no clue which unit is which. I mostly simple kill the current queue and make a new one which suits my current needs.
AI
One thing that really bugs me is that the AI often sends raiding groups straight through my main defense lines to attack control points behind it. They literally just drive through, most of them get killed but often enough a few make it through and kill quite a lot of production.
I get the general idea of these raids but rushing through a defensive line? Really?
That's it for now. I had a few more things in mind but these are gone atm... ^^
