Here are four thoughts I had on how to cut down on repetitive actions and mouse-clicking in the game which would be very nice to have:
1) On the govern planet screen, have a small icon somewhere indicating whether this colony has a shipyard or not.
I spend a noticeable amount of time clicking out of this screen, finding the colony in question on the map and looking to see, then clicking back into the colony govern screen.
2) On the manage colony and manage shipyard screens have a mini-map showing you where these elements are in your empire. The mini-map could be roll-up/roll-down so it doesn't obscure parts of the screen when you don't want it to.
I spend even more time on this - clicking out of the screens, locating the colony or shipyard on the map and then going back into the manage screens.
3) Have some text in the planet govern screen telling you the qualities of this planet (e.g. high in raw production, good for research, good for tourism, perfect for growing population) so you don't need to click out of the screen, find the planet and mouse over the planet on the map to find out.
4) Have a filterable list of discovered but uncolonized planets. GalCiv2 had this. Would save alot of zooming around and panning around.
Finally, two other thoughts I had which I think are worth mentioning:
- Give us the option to switch the Mercs off (but keep the two new races) in the game options.
- Related to the above: have a DLC launcher at the start of the game which lets you enable/disable DLC as you desire (like Crusader Kings 2 has).
