Often when I attempt to play a ranked match, it appears that a match is make but then an error indicates either that my opponent left, or that I was unable to connect. This happens regularly, including tonight.
And now, in mid-match, just when I was holding my own against muffincat for the first time ever (and probably not for long, but hey) it told me that the connection was interrupted, and no longer able to connect to steam, and the match ended. It also said that I won, but that I lost a star. Metaverse shows the match recorded as a loss.
I think there are potentially two issues here. Earlier, during the matchmaking failures, my network connection appears to have been stable, at least between my modem and ISP. Matchmaking seems to fail frequently and I don't see an obvious reason why.
During my match with muffincat, however, my router recorded a period of high (~300ms) latency and ~6% packetloss lasting for approximately 5 minutes. Obviously that is a problem - it would be nice if the network layer could handle it, but 6% loss is pretty nasty. However, the message at the end of the game (saying vxsote wins) does not seem to be correct.
