Game freezes since patch 1.2

Hello there!

 

Since version 1.2 is online I experienced a game freeze mutiple times, always in multiplayer (ranked and unranked).

Also in both DX12 and normal version.

 

The game simply freezes, music keeps running and the process itself is not dead according to Task Manager. My only option to get out is to kill the process .

 

Does anyone experience something similar?

Is there already a known reason for this?

I had the same issue two times in ranked games

This is like the freeze I reported a long time ago via a savegame I submitted. Thing is, it will eventually come back to life, it is almost like a race condition of some type. The other thing is, you never know when it will come back to life, since it will start up again, then freeze again.

Thanks for the info, The_Gear, I just read through the troubleshooting. Quite a lot of stuff that can  cause side effects!

For now I can only say that my desktop pc meets the recommended hardware requirements, has no programs installed which could cause 

troubles (like UPlay) and the drivers should be up to date.

 

As soon as I get back home (Sunday evening) I will try to recreate the freeze issue and then run the SD diag tool and open a support ticket.

 

 

@DasUnding: the first freeze I experienced was during our 3v3 yesterday. Sorry for dropping out... :-/

Freezes for me too. I bought the game today and it's already frozen on me like this 3 times. It is literally unplayable. It has been a LONG time (years) since I've played a game with game breaking bugs like this. None of my other games mess up, and my computer surpasses the recommended requirements of the game (I'm a computer tech by trade so I know how to read the requirements and understand them). 

 I do have an Nvidia 970 GTX and have read that Nvidia cards have problems with this game so that may be playing a part in it.

I am not sure but I think its not the game it was my cpu overclock which is stable on other things but maybe not in ashes. I will test this settings and will tell you again. The strange thing is that is starts with the new 1.2 version. A developer could tell us the answer. Without this I depend on my testing.

I'm on a 970, I've had the game since the beginning and have never had problems with my Nvidia card. Problems only appear for some people with 2 Nvidia cards.

We just got a big patch which changed some underlying engine stuff so it seems a bug got in there. Bad timing and frustrating no doubt, but they have said a hot fix will come this coming week. Hopefully that will sort things out.

I just tried to file a support ticket as asked by The_Gear but the zip file generated by the diag tool exceeds the maximum file size lol...

I guess these diag files are not really required anymore? Since the problem seems to be deep within the engine/game itself?

I did not have a freezer in the last ~20 games with dx12. Whats with you?

Two things changed during the last games:

->a micro patch

->cpu frequenz (4.4 -> 4.3)GHz

The Devs have said some are suffering from a problem, and while it is rare, it happens a lot to the people unfortunate enough to be suffering from it. You clearly do not fall in to that category but it would be erroneous to think that as you do not have a problem others must be doing something wrong. 1.2 was a big patch so some problems are not surprising, I hope they are fixed soon.

We have indeed run into two problems: HANGS in multiplayer and an outright crash in single player.  The hang has to do with certain network behavior that is not super friendly with our asyncronous job system.  We think we have a fix for it and have it ready to be pushed.  The recent crashes are almost entirely GPU related that we think we've found a work around and again, expect that to be rolled out tomorrow.

We expect tomorrow's update to also integrate some new performance code that we were saving for a later release but since we're doing the update now we thought we'd roll it in.  I suspect players are going to notice it without prompting.

Bad use of terminology. It is a freeze, not a crash.
Game screen freezes. Task manager shows the program not responding.

well since Frogboy explained both the freezes and the crashes I don't see any problem with terminology...

On sunday I played two ranked matches and didnt experience any freezes so I think the micro patch was indeed a fix (at least temporarily)...
