The ship list has been a pain since inception and used to be so frustrating I stopped playing for months on end. Even worse is the fact that you CANNOT keep a ship list in the order you want! You can sort the ship list by name or by moves but as soon as you eject a ship from a fleet, use a constructor to build a base, or lose a ship in battle, the whole darned list gets reborn in a different format and you're sitting at the top of the list, and have to waste time to get back to the next ship. Good luck with finding that if you're somewhat visually color-impaired and trying to distinguish the light haze used to highlight the current ship. It makes each turn about 5 times longer than it should be. The default list SHOULD be on names because that is the tab that is highlighted when the list is shown. But the format that it defaults to is something that is not even on one of the sorting tabs.
As a trial, just sort your ship list by name and then scroll through it and see how easy it is to find and move ships compared to the broken order it now defaults to. The game is sped up by a factor of 5 to 10. No more wasting time by clicking at least 3 times on the sort icon every time you lose a ship and then having to drag the scroll bar down again. And seriously, what is so hard about taking a little bit of coding time to add a pointer that keeps track of what ship you are on and keeping it in the visible party of the list, instead of just rewriting the whole fudged thing back to the beginning and forcing you to scroll your way down hundreds of ships to try to remember where you were?
This should be a priority fix and was implemented in Galciv 2 with no problems. I've been complaining about it since inception with no results. My motto when I programmed was "Fix what's broke before you add new stuff" but we'll have to wait and see if the devs ever get around to fixing it.
Not that Galciv 3 is unplayable in its current state. I would give it an 8.5 out of 10 and if they fixed this, it would change to 9.7.
