Map Size Bug?

I am new to Gal Civ 3. When I try to make a "small" map it comes out huge, or large. If I select tiny, it is quite tiny. The "small" map size is MUCH larger than a medium one.The way it is now, with my system, I can only play a tiny or medium sized map.

Any assistance would be appreciated highly.

Are you saying it is visually larger or smaller, or do you mean that there are literally less tiles in a medium map than in a small map?

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. I am going by the amount of tiles. When I zoom out (mouse wheel) the small map is MUCH bigger than the medium. It HUGE.
