The new Tech Library is a big help (THANK YOU), but there is one thing that make it a lot more useful:
Each Tech description should also tell us what Tech they came FROM, in addition to what Techs they unlock, i.e. lead TO.
Telling us how many research points is needed for a Tech is something that we have wanted for a long time. Thank you for that also. It appears that all of the Techs in the game are listed in order of how many research points you need to get them. Not in any other order, such as type or area.
Without an actual Tech Tree, trying to start with a desired Tech, and figure out the path to it can be difficult. I hope that we will see something (screenshots of the Tech Tree) like we had for the previous versions of GC IV. (Thank you in advance for whoever does it).
example, what techs do we need to research to get to the new Utility Clouds Tech that unlocks the ability to produce Field Generators, Missile Disruptors, and Integrity Fields. By examining many Techs listed in the Tech Library, we can figure this out, but it is awkward and time consuming to do for many new Techs.
A lot of the empty, nonfunctional, non military Techs seem to be implemented now. Something we have been waiting patiently for, particularly the Drone Techs (after the first one), improvements to Asteroid Mining production, etc.
Also possibly Hypergates may be functional, since we now have a Tech that builds a Hypergate component/module. Another missing big piece of the game up until now. Please Correct me, if I am wrong.
added: I tried looking (again) through the list of Techs, and I seem to be not seeing anything that says that some of these new Techs are lead to or unlocked. So we may not be able to access to them yet, or it will require us to do something in the game, or some event to happen, etc., before we can research them.
Also some of the higher level military techs still say .... will improve the functioning of some military item without any actual details and unlocks another tech without any details on what they do also, etc. So those techs are probably still not functional yet.
So they probably do not want to tell us (yet) how to get to them. Which is probably why we still do not have an official and functioning Tech Tree to use.
If we are lucky, we will be able discover a way inside 0.60 to get to some of them as we play new games. Keep an eye on the Discord for anyone posting a message about how they got to XYZ in their game. Possibly in some cases they may be Race or special something dependent like in GC3.
added: I have figured out that the Yor Race in GC IV has the "Unwavering" Ability that gives access to 3 Techs in the Unbroken Spirit branch of the Tech Tree: these 3 Techs are defensive in nature: Unbroken Spirit (+15% Hit Points), Defensive Discipline (+20% to Dodge), and Defensive Trance (+20% to damage resistenance from Beam, Missiles, and Guns).
It is possible that the Yor Race also had these 3 Techs in GC III.
