I just started building Supply Ships for the first time to see how they worked and how valuable they might be. It may be that I just do not understand them yet, but it seems that they do not work as intended.
The first screen snapshot shows how they are described in the shipyard. Note that it says that it provides 75 manufacturing points to the receiving colony. However, if I click on a Supply Ship in my Build Queue, it says that it "Delivers 100 Manufacturing to target world". As is shown below, I believe the 75 is correct and the 100 needs to be changed.
The third screen snapshot shows what one of my core worlds looks like BEFORE I send a Supply Ship to it. Note that there are 5 manufacturing districts and 1 shipyard in the built queue and that the core world has 150 "Stored Goods" which I believe represents manufacturing points available to be used in the shipyard.
The fourth screen snapshot shows what the core world looks like AFTER the Supply Ship arrives. It shows that no progress was made on the items in the build queue, but the "Stored Goods" increased by 75 to 225.
This means that Supply Ships do nothing to speed-up the development of core worlds as I believe a reasonable person (me!) would expect. Instead, it looks like Supple Ships speed-up production of ships in the core world's associated shipyard, which is what I believe "Stored Goods" are used for. In my example, the core world was new and did not have a shipyard built yet so sending Supply Ships to it did not appear to do anything of value. I just happened to notice that the "Stored Goods" number went up by 75.
Please consider the following suggestions:
- Let the manufacturing points in the Supply Ships be applied to items in the planet's Build Queue, or
- Change the description for the Supply Ships to make it clear that they can only speed-up ship production, or
- Make it so that if the Supply Ship goes to a planet, it applies to the Build Queue of the planet, but if it goes to a shipyard, it applies to the Build Queue of the planet.
