So since the shield mitigation mechanic from the first game has been removed i was wondering about phase missiles. Their entire point was to partly avoid said mechanic in the late game doing extra damage that way and being an extra danger to low hp units even if they managed to recharge their shields.
Right now phase missiles are basically just normal missiles. Even against high shield low hp advent targets their isnt much point to theim partly ignoring shields. So i was thinking that it would be a good idea to change/adapt the concept since the other 2 factions already use normal missiles.
My first thought was to make phase missiles harder to target through point defense. Of course it should be balanced and no overpowered missile like it was close to in the first game. But maybe someone got a better idea how to make the concept interesting.
As it is now it almost seems to me as an incentive to spam kanraks or maybe carriers.
Other thing i find curious is the complete lack of heavy autocannons on tec cap ships, Titans and starbases. Youd think theyd put the bigger guns on the bigger ships. All the while they at least to me look a bit out of place on the tec heavy cruiser.
