Add the option to assign planets to a core world

A really needed feature

It would be great to have the option to assign a world to a specific core world like you can do with asteroids. At the moment you cant do that and theres no mod to enable the option, I was told on the discord server that its been asked for many times. But that I can reassign asteroids which does give you the same kind of flexibility. To be honest it doesnt. Lets say you want to add and develop a new core world, but you dont want one of your good core worlds to lose all the resources it gets. Atm theres no way to do it. I get that the devs did changed how things work to reduce micromanagement (I didnt like it at first but now I think it was a good change), however in some instances the lack of control is a problem that makes the game less fun (Im about to stop one game because i have a level 44 planet right between the capital world and the rest of the planets. I was hoping to get a mod to be able to turn the planet into a core world and not ruin the capital, but no luck with that.) I really hope the devs add this option for planets. Like a said this problem makes the game less fun. Needless to say that this is bad. I liked galciv (I, II,III and IV) so much that i never felt the need to mod any of the games until now. I just created an account here to provide this feedback. I hope the devs do read this things, otherwise this was just a waste of time.

Hey, yes devs do read forums, and I will make sure to share your feedback, so thank you for taking the time.

Current system looks for shortest path to a core world, because otherwise it would waste resource due to decay. And while enabling manual colony assignment sounds like an option for those who want it, it could create a lot of pressure on some players to min max it, even though it's optional.

The request is worth looking at, and I would like to gather more feedback from you. So assuming there are like 20 colonies feeding into your capital, and the 44 tile planet would steal 10. How many planets would you have manually assigned to the 2 core planets in question?

Thanks for the reply. Im glad the devs do read the feedback. I did test and the class 44 planet takes most of the planets (since its closer to them) and the production and research on the capital is reduced a lot. If I had the option I would assign only a few of them (maybe 5 or so at the start) to the class 44 core world while I develop it. I know it would be more efficient in the long run to assign the planets to the new core world, but most of the production and research is on the capital, so in the short term its not the best option to do it, since once the planet is turned into a core world the civ overall yields are reduced a lot. This is only one instance thats shows that not having this option is a problem for some players (I think is not only me since i was told this feature was requested before several times). I think adding the option shouldnt be a problem if you keep the system as is. If a player doesnt care or doesnt mind then nothing changes (my guess is many players (maybe most of them) do try to min max anyway and maybe thats why they also want this option). Im not a dev, but maybe you can keep the same system so each time a new core world is added the others planets are reassigned to the closest core world, but you can add the option to do it manually and also maybe add a flag so the code doenst reassing any planet the player did assign manually. I get that reducing micromanagment is kinda a trend for devs now and to be honest many times the results are good (a ton of micro is not so fun) but I think it shouldnt be taken to far, since having options is many times what makes a strategy game more fun. To end this Ill like to say that the devs have done a great work with galciv, adding new things but also keeping the essence of the game and the good things that make people like it. Cant really speak for other people but thats in my opinion.
