What are advantages/dis-advantages to joining a team?

Most of the major empires have their own websites, where they have empire info and other such things. In addition, each empire tends to have a theme to it. For example, G.R.O.S.S. is a pirate empire, they have many evil players. ANZAC, on the other hand, is an Australian themed empire. Of course, my own Jedi Republic is self explainitory. If you click on each empire and go to their metaverse page, they should have links to their offsite pages. Joining an empire is all about flavour. It has no effect on your game playing just on the fun and sense of community you experience. You can even create your own empire if you so desire. Empires fall into two categories, the 'open' and the 'invite only'. FOr an open empire you can just click on the empire in the metaverse and join. For an 'invite only' empire you need to get a senator from that empire to invite you in (they tend to be a more defined group based empire). There are a number of good threads on recruiting from the various empires. the thread titled 'Pitches for new recruits' (use the search function to find it) is particularly useful for you in that the different empires say what they're about. Joining an empire definitely adds to your enjoyment of the game. I highly recommend you visit as many of the empire's threads as you can and do visit our website at this http://www.angelfire.com/rings/fellowshipgalciv We have some very good resources for players including some strategy and FAQ sections.

By the way, you're more than welcome to jon GROSS - and don't worry about the rules. We're pirates - we don't have rules. You can join and leave if you want.

Actually, anyone in theses forums is likely to help you.... and there are a number of good strategies available.

GROSS is the original evil empire and the most infamous set of space pirates in the Metaverse. We are also the most active empire on the message boards -- both GROSS and Pirates of the South Seas are our threads. We are also notorious for crashing other threads in our raids.

Wow,thanks for all the info!!! Ill scan the different sites tonite while Im watching the football game. When I first started playing I tried to be good but ended up chaotic good,now I find myself leaning towards being chaotic evil. I could care less about the well being of bugs, giant squid, worms or any other un-civilized life form but I do have a weak spot for human experiments,lol.

Funny true story... I bought a boat a couple of years ago. I am kind of partial to pirates so I tried to find a Jolly Roger to fly (with no luck ). I did buy an eyepatch and a pirate hat. I even called my son swab but my wife drew the line at my responding to all her questions with " arrrr matey".
