Why Terror Stars should be put in!

Why Terror Stars should be put in!

Damn! I catch the flu and can't post for a day and Flag Ships catch up...

But think of this StarDock... Terror Stars can be used for marketing! I asked a few of my friends who havn't played GalCiv which one of these things they'd vote for an all of them said Terror Stars, and one of them pointed out that Terror Stars would make him want to buy this game more than Flag Ships would...

First off, that whole thing about them changing into giant robots was in referal to Unicron.

Second, even if the player doesn't want to make them, give the Drengin a chane to build what they want! And that's Terror Stars!

I must admit Drengin AI Terror Stars does fill you with fear - and relish.

I am not changing my mind!!

'"Even with militant civs, it's generally not a good idea. Destroying colonized systems removes high class planets you could be exploiting once it's captured."

Which all to me says keep these strategic game destroying anomalies out.'

I never said they were 'strategic game destroying anomolies.' I just said it isn't a good idea to use them for their primary function.

Think about what a weapon a large enough energy output to overload a star's fusion reaction could do to a starship (presuming it can fire fast enough to actually hit said ship).

Hi,
I think those "terror stars" would be cool. I remember MOO 2 when i had fleets of them, but this is pretty unrealistic.
I think it should be extremely expensive and long to build so that even a powerful civ can just build one. Also it should be used like the atomic bomb : hudge diplomatic consequences if used and used like a mean of pressure upon other civs.

The way I heard last, Terror Stars are implimented as very heavily upgraded Starbases, so at a minimum, it's going to take a very high total amount of production, and a significant length of time to build.

Oh man... first game of Beta4 will be dedicated to the construction of one of these beautiful weapons of destruction...

Terror stars also need to have a high maintenance cost too - not to mention that there should be some ethical consequences if you use them.

Perhaps neutral and evil races can use terror stars while good can only use "defensive" terror stars - just a thought. In return good - races get "XXXXX". I'm not sure what it could be - but I think that they has to be a moral cost to using a terror star.

Perhaps your senate should have a vote every time you want to destroy a system? But make it harder to persuade them than it is to go to war...

Wyrenn,

Why do you think terror stars will be in Beta 4? I have not seen any comment by any Stardock people saying they are. Have you?

Check out the main page! It lists all the stuff that will be in Beta4 and Terror Stars are there!

Main page? What main page? Oh, you mean the "home page" for this site. Now I see it. Also, I see it as the first item after the heading:

"Amongst the significant changes expected are:"

Note the word "expected". I don't count that as a certainty. Suppose they have problems with it and decide at the last moment to pull it.

Not really likely, of course.

I also see that they will have ship groupings, which will also be nice. So it sounds like we will get the best of both of the items in the cyber poll that is cause of the debate in this thread.

I also see that a number of other questions being asked in this forum are answered there, such as, Beta 4 is the last beta before the code gets locked down, new feature wise. That means now is the last chance we have to locate and report all of the spelling errors and gramatical erorrs we can find.
