When making a research tree for the game, where do you get your ideas? Is it all simply from the top of your head or do you search for cutting edge science news to get your ideas?

Wow. And the only thing preventing us from having useful antigrav lifters today is sufficiently light weight and powerful power supplies. And Zefram Cochran is supposed to take his first trip at warp speed when? (According to the movie "First Contact" from Star Trek, The Next Generation.)

you forgot to mention Zero Point Energy :-)

which is supposedly the most efficient form of energy in the universe and that theres enough ZPE in a shot glass to turn the worlds oceans to steam,

would be interresting as a later energy tech tho, or perhaps as something you can only find from artifacts from the ancient race that dissapeared
