wish lists :-)

for people to say what they would like to see in the game at some time be it release or 1.x

for me it would have to be:

1)being able to steal enemy ships and use them to frame other empires and start wars.

2)being able to raid trade routes for cash if you arent part of the UP.

3)official borders and demiliterized zones enforces by treaties and the UP.

4)joint research projects between allies.

5)a peace keeping force which UP members can donate ships to, to help protect members and fight off dangers to peaceful races.

6)treaties with minor races such as protection treaties where they pay you money to protect them from harm.#

thats all i can think of for now, feel free to add your own :-)

Get allies sensor info.

Spies to steal tech, destroy defences etc..

Better control of battles.

AI governors who will develope planets along certain lines IE. Reserch, Production, Population etc.

Popup on Planets sidebar telling you what advantages that planet has, eg 10% population bonus, 20% starship bonus etc..

Planetary combat system that does not involve exterminating hardworking civilian taxpayers.

I think this one has been mentioned before, but I'd like a display of uncolonized planets which you have discovered. It would be nice if the list was sortable, especially by planet quality. It can be a pain keeoing track of suitable planets for colonization, unless you keep a written record, which, while not a major deal, is something I hate doing in a computer game.

Also, I wish there was a button for the mini-map which would highlight resources you've located and starbases you've built. I know that resources are marked with a plus sign on the mini-map, but, if you're playing one of the larger galaxy sizes, those teeny, weeny, little plus signs can be awfully hard to find. If you could make them, and starbases, more visible with a button--like when you press the button for population and planets are enlarged to reflect their population size--it would be extremely helpful.

Yes there is a need for a List were you can see all uncolonized planets you have found so fare.
This list sould be able to sort after system or after Planet Value.
From this list you sould eiter be able direckt send your ships or after klicking on the planet to get to the system dont lost the ship you whant to move.

This list or a other list would be also good to display the Planets of the oponents if you remove a filter option. Also the enemy planets need to be sorted by the race.

The recources is a other big problem that are hard to manage for a player. The dificulty could reduced if the player either get a list of all dicovered resoures (Used and not used) or they could be displayed on the mini map.

Thanks for reminding me, Juergen. I forgot about resources. We do need something to make them easier to keep track of also.

My suggestion for resources and planets: right click adds them to a survey log. See a unclaimed star, survey it, right click on that class 20 planet. This log could contain the item(planet/resource), type (planet class/resource type) and sector location. When you open the log and highlight a item , the item will blink on the galaxy map. Pen and paper will do the same but this is the 22nd century.

I think it would be nice to be able to name the resources. In Alpha Centauri, their were several key bonus areas (borehole cluster, something sea, etc...). It would add a little pizazz if we could name some of these resources as the Kuiper Mining resource or the Von Schlaat Military resource or something. This way, it may be easier to keep track of where these things are.

I'd like to have a bio-defense or bio-weapons option of tech research that would allow breeding of space monsters to patrol boarders or to be set loose upon enemies to wreck havoc within their sectors. Monsters would have to be able to recognise a friend from and enemy so they wouldnt be attacking at random.

For the "stars discovered with no colonized planets" list, I would also like to see a sort on "distance from currently selected colony ship". If I have several colony ships ready to send to colonize a planet I would like to send the closest colony ship to either the closest or the farthest star system the ship can reach within its range.

On the bio-weapons, I would not care much for this, but if it is done, I would want to see a severe penalty for using it. Also I think it should be restricted to evil empires.

Bio weapons would have to be banned within the UP, ie you have to leave the UP before you can use them
Reply #11 Top
That would be only one of many bad things I would want to see done to a race using bio-weapons. I would also want to see an emergency UP session called to declare a UP police action (essentially a declaration of war by all members against the offending race, with captured planets allowed just like any other war) and a cessation of hostilities between UP members for the duration of the police action. The police action would last until the offending race was destroyed (or all other races lost to the offending race) or the offending race petitioned the UP for peace (which would have to be voted on by the UP members). If the offending race succeded with its petition it sould have to destroy (disban) all of its bio-weapons and submit to a probation period during which even starting to build a bio-weapon results in re-enstating the police action.

that sounds like a pretty cool idea, it would work well i think, similar rules would have to be in place for nuclear technology as well

Nuclear tech? I think the tech of this game is well beyond nuclear and nuclear attacks would be trivial to defend against. Death stars, however, I think would be the game's equivelent.

Now that I am thinking about it, wouldn't the same be true for bio-weapons as for nuclear weapons? With some of the techs in the tech tree isn't there some basis for the idea that bio-weapons would be rather ineffective?

A few comments:

- If the UP controlled a "peacekeeping" force, then its members should have to vote on "peacekeeping" initiative. A powerful member could bend this force to his will.
- UP members should be able to vote to kick out other members.
- If bio weapons were available, why would that mean that you had to leave the UP? Why not put it to a vote and preserve the Gal Civ philiosophy? Why heavily penalize a player who chooses evil?

One of the 1.x features we want to put in is the creation of marauder class star ships. They destroy freighters for money and based on your piracy ability you may get away with it (your piracy ability vs. their intelligence ability).
