Electronic Arts will be celebrating this year's World Cup with the release of the only FIFA licensed game, 2006 FIFA World Cup. The title will use 12 official stadiums and will enable gamers to jump into the cleats of their favorite teams. Developed by EA Canada the title is to be released in April 2006 for all major consoles and handhelds including a mobile phone edition.
"The FIFA World Cup will be the single most watched sporting event by a worldwide television audience, bringing together soccer fans from around the world," said Joe Nickolls, lead producer of the game. "Our game, 2006 FIFA World Cup, celebrates this passion by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game, enabling fans to play their heroes and be a part of 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany."
2006 FIFA World Cup will feature almost 100 of the worlds superstars capturing their individual styles and likenesses. EA's newest soccer title will allow access to 127 national teams and features a new play mode dubbed 'Global Challenge' which will recreate classic moments in the World Cup.
