I lost game and dont know why

The entire galaxy is blue. My Avatars are closing in and wham, game end, military defeat!! Best ships Yor have are Dreadnoughts and I'm at pease with only other race, the Alterans. I am also the most advanced race.

Metaverse says cakewalk but i know I did not use a single point in beginning; 10 points not used. I would like to know what happened.
(and how do I change my nickname?)

Another variation of this bug is that I just had a cultural win in a gigantic galaxy reported as a military win.

Or at least I think I did. The message had a question mark (?) for emporer name and race name.

mine did too.. the ? mark. but it said i suffered a military defeat. and why a cakewalk, i did not use a single point; I had all zeroes when the galaxy was created.

How smart did you set the AI majors to? If I am not mistaken that has an effect on decideing weather its a cake walk or not.

"Cake walk" is an obsolete term from when there was a "difficulty" setting on the first new game setup screen. Since it only affected how many bonuses you got it was rather poor in establishing game difficulty.

Same thing happened to me in my last game - and the summary still shows every result as a cakewalk. (Haven't played 3Z yet, though.) I'm going to try changing my culture and name to see whether I still get reported as the Unknown Emperor.

Is it possible for an AI to research some sort of Tech victory (which would be misreported as a military defeat for the player) while showing overwhelming inferiority on its Tech score? Does anybody know what files to check to see whether this might be the case?

I also had my very first crash to desktop in my last game. So, does anybody know where to obtain Smart Exception?
