Editing starting planet?

for custom races

hi, was wondering if I could mod the xml so that I can start with a higher class planet for my custom race? Would like to play a game where 1 planet is enough to sustain myself. If it can be done, can somebody teach me how to do it.

Just check out CustomPlanets.xml in Data/English in your GalCiv2 directory. It should be mostly self explanatory; the "Custom Race" star system is at the end of the file, IIRC.

You can definitely do it in a custom map. I think it is possible to do for normal games as well, but I'd have to doublecheck on it.

What Kryo said to do will help for ANY random map. Or if you have a certain race in mind you can edit their stars while you're in the file editing.
