Rear View Fears

Some free writing/rhymin' for this thurs. night

I've posted the bulletins but haven't received a single reply,
Like the letters I write the ex-girl friend who only calls me back when her phone battery is about to die,
I'm lying underneath these dirty sheets, and the truth,
hungry for anything less than proof....

That it's time to step forward and off this narrow line,
to blow a kiss and while I'm pissed to leave it all behind,
in the rear-view mirror,
I've got near sighted fears,
and encountering them is much closer than it appears.

So head east in the morning and west in the eve,
just to make sure your path is always bright,
and when I get off this ship and they grant me leave,
I'll be the last one off and the first one back that night.

This collar is getting tighter,
but I'm a lover, not a fighter,
I extinguish, I'm not an igniter...

but when brightly burn the flames,
I forget to be the same,
I unhook this leash and choose a different name.

And write it proudly in the ash,
so that every onlooker that slows down as they pass,
can see they're on their first breath and I'm nearing my last.

But I plan to hold it for as long as I can,
for the two mutts of there and then.

Scraps for the hounds who keep me awake when I can't fight sleep,
who keep the fight in me when I'm most in need,

of a single solitary ounce of patience,
for these passions that have purpose direct and latent.

I'm faint of heart for my next chance to breathe,
as I scratch below the surface,
When I'm again granted leave,
I'll return with purpose.

I liked this. I think it was very good. I write poetry sometimes too. Not as much as I did when I was younger, probably because all my good shit has been written, and all I have left is crapola :)

Anyways, keep writing

Dude, I seriously find myself getting angry when you only recieve one or two comments. It's like people want to read crap rather than substance, and it makes me frightened for the world to come.
