multiple starbase in same sector

Should multiple starbases in the same sector compliment each other? By mid game, most of my sectors with planets had starbases maxed on def/production/trade.
Over 3 turns, I sent 15 constructors to a nearby planet. I then built a 2nd starbase in 1 turn. My class 28 planet stats before: 27+27, 22+22, 59+163. There is a penalty for starting a 2nd starbase. After my constructor became an unimproved starbase, planetary production dropped to: 19+7, 15+6, 59+163. After building starbase with +90 production: same as before: 27+27, 22+22, 59+163. (note: no change in research!)

The encylopedia has no mention of multiple bases in same sector. I feel that a 2nd or 3rd starbase in same sector should compliment each other and add their combined bonuses to the sector's planets and ships.
After all, why cant each star in a sector have its own starbase? Opinions? (BTW, I trying for a Research victory)

I see the same problem Ted did. Before build 3z building multiple star bases with production improvements were at least additive. Now a new star base in the same sector removes all of the affect of the production updates of previous one. (I have not checked for other upgrade affects, such as culture, defence, attack, etc..)

Weird... off the top of my head i dont know why this problem would occur. Multiple starbases should give multiple bonuses, and while they shouldnt have a compunding effect, certainly shouldnt cancel out other starbase bonuses.

We'll be looking into it.
