Some random thoughts about game improvement

What follows are some suggestions/ideas for future updates regarding this title from my personal perspective (for what its worth). I have also listed as some errata I have experienced so far. I will update this thread as I think of more and I'm aware that some of theses ideas may already have been discussed and are being considered for inclusion. I simply have not had the time to read several thousand posts just yet so please keep that in mind when responding. ==Game Features== - Espionage for minor races. - A "We are at war" social event notification window. - A tech cost/value in research and diplomacy interfaces. - Visual representation of Starbase effects and range. - To be able to rename a Star and have all the planet names update accordingly. - show all max/min elements for a planet. - Empire logos for ships. - An Intergalactic Merchants Association (IMA) window for auto trade and negotiation of goods and even ships would be nice. This would also be an idea place for taxes, tariffs and embargo related actions. - A stand alone "Skunkworks" sandbox mode for ship design. Please include a jukebox for user defined music. - The ability to export designed ships for trade with friends (as a single archive). ==Game Options== - For acquisition of a vanquished players remaining fleets, influence and cash at time of surrender (maybe let the player set a percentage value) for all conquerors AI and human alike. - To play with more then one custom race in a game. - No technology sharing or money lending. ==Game Play Suggestions== - Stop tech trades when the prerequisites are not known. - Rework the tech value formula to calculate and account for common knowledge and have it reflected in the trade values. For example, the more races that know a particular tech the less its worth. A simple rule of thumb could be 7% - Espionage options for United Planets votes based on your ability. - Some "current event" reports on empires where you have spy networks (balanced to ability and penetration of course). Game Errata ==Typo== - Underwater Cities Event - The neutral and evil options have the same bonuses listed. ==Bug== - When one clicks on the Social event "goto" option for ship produced the window opens up to nothing but spinning space. ==Oversights== - The Planet list stays on top of some windows when they are opened. - For the minor races espionage is a stated option in the text but it appears not be possible. - I can't see to get rid of old colony ships without killing people.

good Suggestions spartan, i would like to add to the list....

as more and more parts get added to the shipyard it would be nice to have the parts more organized in drop down menus, i know its hard to categorize some of those parts lol, but a favorites list would be nice.

there is the weird bug when you use information warfare that gives you like a 14 trillion population for a few turns

i would like to be able to name star basses

and finally I'm a huge battlestar galactica fan. so i would really like a fighter module tech line, maybe branched off of logistics. where you could have a huge ship with a few tiny ships inside, that way the tiny ships wouldn't need life support. the fighters could have a max range they can fly out before having to fly back.. so different really then the tiny ships all ready in the game, like a micro class hehe.. there would need to be a bit more work on the carrier aspect then i mentioned, just throwing it out there....i know it would be hard to balance, which is why its probably not in the game.. maybe work for a modder

If you're a fan of BSG locus, you shoudl join up with the colonial fleet! (search for us on the forum).

As for the carrier others on the forum have suggested a range of modules that give a large ship the ability to boost the range and speed of tiny ships in the same fleet. this would simulate the effect of a carrier and fighters without requiring a total re-write of the combat mechanics.

Just a couple of thought:

Maybe I missed it, but is there any reason whatsoever to play neutral og good? Though I like evil a lot it would be more interesting if good was a usable option. Shouldn't all those evil, population-killing schemes have a detrimental effect on morale? That way it would be more of a choice between different goals, not just a "hmm, if I vote good now I'll lose all benefits, let me think ..... *click*Evil*click*".

While voting on the UP proposals it would be nice to be able to see the star map (I can't always remember all bases and planets and so on).

It would be nice with added ship management options for ships in orbit, in a fleet or in a stack. At present you can't upgrade ships and have to move ships to adjacent tiles. Being able to always click a Details button and have the detail show an upgrade option would be nice.

When in-game it would be very useful to be able to choose a new color for your race as it is presented on the tactical view and minimap. Currently I'm playing as Iconian and I can't make out the faint blue from all the white stars on the map.

Just because a trade route is terminated shouldn't mean the freighter is "used up"

Since Transports are often "used up" in planetary invasions shouldn't it be possible to upgrade the ships with weaponry that makes a difference when they land on the planet?

I would like to see future technologies, like in civilization or moo2, for example future miniturization or hit points ++ tech, ofcourse they will be expensive, i like infinitive research.

Hm, that's interesting, the Custom Races part. Every default race has a special AI algorithm, but what can you do with a Custom Race AI?

Hmmm...

I have now read another five threads offering addition suggestions (some quite good). I think someone should the time to create and actively maintain a highly organized definitive list of features, functions and options the community would like to see developed for future updates even if only for discussion in the end.

Regarding the Custom Race part comment, it can simply be handled by a random AI assignment.
