Do the AIs ever approach us?

Does the AIs ever activate diplomacy other than to declare war? I've never had it happen. The game would be more immersive if they were. I always remember dreading hearing the racial music in MOO - I never knew whether it meant something good or bad. And is my memory fooling me - did AIs in MOO approach you to trade stuff? I think they did, but I can't remember . . .

I think they are going to add more diplomacy options as time goes on...........

MOO did approach you with trade stuff such as ai's non-aggression pacts and the like...............

Yeah, I've seen them ask for peace and declare war - but nothing else. It would be nice if they sought the stuff I have like tech and special goods and sought treaties like in MOO.

The AI will currently threaten you for money, techs, and planets, provided they're stronger than you. I'm not sure what Brad has planned for other aspects of communication between the AI and the player. I do agree, though, that the more they contact you, the more immersive the game becomes.

We'll just have to wait for a frogboy post. ;)

They'll be contacting you to talk to you on various issues as well as trade technology.

ive had the AI try to extort me.

because they were bigger than me at the time they tried to get me to give them all my tech + 400BC

i refused ofc, they declared war shortly after

now thats the sort of thing i like to see :-) adds spice to the game

I need to add more responses to the AI. Has anyone read what the human says to the AI when you reject their demand for tribute?

i don't think we'll be doing that

brad in the future could you vary the responses from them and us. "that's extortion! I refuse to play"

things like that

I will be happy when the races ask if you want to ally with them instead of the Auto Ally.
