stupid crap

stupid crap

they need to say why you're being attacked! i get attacked way to many times! just because my military sucks, doesn't mean that the AI should attack you automatically. what the crap is normal difficulty? its the hardest difficulty i've ever played in a strategy game before. normal should not be where within 100 weeks your being attacked. also, the ai cheats with its techs. you go to trade with them, thay have laser 5 technology, along with about 20 other high techs, soil enhancement, etc... its ridiculous. in civ 4, you can see why other civs hate you. they ought to do the same here. and normal difficulty ought to be way easier, when you're attacked, it should be because you've had a low military for a long time, but instead, they attack you after 100 turns, not a very long time in the game. another thing is that there is no LAN multiplayer! WTF! is it that hard just to allow you and a friend to play multiplayer. most good games that come out have some form of multiplayer, like civ 4, half life 2, and a host of other games. this game needs it. so to the developers, make this game more friendly to casual gamers, not nerds who spend hours at the computer, and who could beat this with their eyes closed!

I will stand in daver33's defense. The game has a steep learning curve. And it can be bafflign for anyone whos tarts on Normal not havign have played part 1 of the game. Clearly the guy jsut got upset because he thought he wasted his money on a defective piece of crap. He has every right to put his opinions forward. I jsut wished more peopel read the thread so after second post explainign each of his points, you guys can stop bashing the hell out of him.

daver33, I suggest you get familiar witht he sliders as mentioned above. It is the most important and most difficult thing to master in the game. True startign with 3 sliders is pretty hard, I suggest you start a game on lower difficulty and choose the scenerio where you get all the tech from the start, so you don't have to bother with technology or lab buildings or the research slider. Onyl have to balance the military and social slider and the overall spending. Much easier to get a handle on at first.

Astax, while I agree with the principle (that he was upset, and has a right to complain), he had NO right to respond like he did. IE; Attacking people who can play the game, being a hypocrite, and instantly saying "look I'm losing. WTF CHEATS!"

You can check the forums. Those that post things saying "Help please" or "Questions from a new player" or anything like that, outlining there problems, and asking for help, get what they ask for. People who title "Stupid Crap!" and generally flame the game, get what they deserve.

Okay I skimmed most of the responses and it has been a heavy Friday night but if its not been said:

My way around any production woes is to specialize my planets. Obviously this works in the favour of economy bonuses + pop bonuses, it also helps for production planets and thus doesn't hurt that research planets are created solely for that.

So on ship building planets, I choose to build just factories + 1 entertainment center and 1 shipyard, that is if there are no 'special' squares to utilize; this has the effect of making any ship building extremely fast on key worlds. That is those worlds close to the enemy and those with special production bonus squares.

It sounds to me as if you just don't know how to 'beat' the game yet, which isn't so hard to do when you get into it.

Yes good point!

Always specilise your planets

Planet class 4-8 should be forge(factory),cardinal(reasearch),or civilized(influence) worlds

Anything higher should be a mix of either or be a hive world(econmy farms and entertainment centers etc)

i specalize mine and i usually do pretty good

I am not a nerd! I am a steel worker who spits on the floor. I race and ride motorcycles. I have a beautiful wife with whom I have great sex with. I drive a 1992 Dodge Ram 4x4. Yet I love this game and win on normal every time. I love the steep learning curve and the challenges it provides.I was hooked the minute I tried it and it has held my attention longer than most games.

If you don't want to be attacked in the first hundred turns you should probably look at lowering the difficulty level.
