Server Problems?

What is going on with Wincustomize Servers? For the last week or so I have had nothing but problems going from site to site within Wincustomize.com. SERVERS TOO BUSY!!! Thats what I keep getting or just a long minute or two hang until the site kicks in. Ive tried this at 3:00 AM on a weekday, 7:00 AM on weekend and all hours in between and its always the same. I have high speed cable modem (Mach 10) and live in NYC and was told by RCN that its definitely a problem with your servers. What gives? Will this ever get fixed? BTW, I am a registered paying member since Jan. 2004. If this question has already been addressed somewhere else on these forums, then please excuse this message. I just haven't been able to find this discussion elsewhere.

Yah, you're not alone. There are a few things that are apparently causing the problems but it is getting old quickly. Here's a few things I know of:

1) GalCiv II
2) Server upgrades
3) Server software upgrades (.NET 1.1 to 2.0)

There may be more contributing factors but those are the things I've seen mentioned. I guess we have this to look to for the forseeable future too because every time there's an update or some other big news flash about GalCiv this site is going to suffer for it. At least until the sites are on separate servers.

On a similar note, is there no development environment for the WC site? I think it's getting big enough the development needs to happen on a separate server and then once changes are made tested roll them into production. Maybe the existing servers can become the development/test environment once the new servers are up and running.

There have been 2,000+ people on at a time, which may also be causing server too busys..
