Total Freeze

Hi

I keep getting total freezes, that I can only get out of by Ctrl+Alt+Del. The last time I noticed That 5 of my Star Hawks had assumed a stack formation and are following themselves about. I wondered if this might be something. 2 Had moved and 3 had still to move when the freeze occured.

Any ideas on how to get Brad info on this kind of Problem.

Brad reads these posting.

I just found a new bug but figured a way out:
just after the UP meeting vote, I had a research and espionage screens come up together. The right side of the screen, where the mini-map is, had the UP meeting on it. The main part had the sector map. Nothing worked. When I hit the esc key, I briefly saw the espionage screen before the main menu screen appeared. I kept hitting esc, toggling between the sector map and the main menu, with brief glimces of the espionage screen, until I could position my cursor where the espionage screen 'done' button was located. I then click my mouse on the sector screen and the espionage screen done button appeared and bug solved (whew!).

I have a theory on what is causing this.

I have run into this too and it's severe enough that the only way I was able to get out of it was to kill the process from a command line.

Now bear in mind, I'm running this from Windows XP in a window and things were so locked that I couldn't even click on anything. I had to Alt-Tab to a command line an dkill it from there. I couldn't even bring up the task manager.

What this tells me is that we're dealing with something really significant that isn't just a matter of some sort of endless loop or something but instead something either related to drawing or sound.

So my theory is that somehow multiple screens are trying to come up at once and it's messing things up. I've seen this happen.

Yes Brad

I have noticed multiple screens quite a lot (say 10 times)I have had Total Freeze about 2-3 time including this one.

And what Ted was saying about clicking where done should be, I've had something similar. Ipressed escape and then moved the curser over the info box bottom where the ship info is and a "ghost" Done button appeared. Obviosly it disapeared as I moved the curser back (that's the way of things PC) But eventually I manages to hit it just right and the game stabelised.

I have also had a 10 or 12 digit influence and took over the galaxy in about 10 turns. I will send you the save game previos saved game and the debug file.

Brad

Just had a new game all going well then I pressed turn and an info screen telling me something had happened came up in the mini map area. Then that cleared to the mini map and the Terran Icon flashed up intermitantly. Now I can't press any buttons. The screen will scroll across no problem but I can't click the mini map to move. looks a bit like what you said above. I run XP Pro as well.

If you need debugg err file I will send it.

Hello again Brad
I sent you that debug err file to get it out of the way.

When I loaded previos civ. Only a few turns into it I got a 9 digit influence where the toreans had only a 4 digit number. This has happened to me before and I have sent in the saved game, as I will with this. I will send it for your attention but please redirect it to whoever is the best to deal with it.
