Beta 4A glitches

"Gigantic" game, all AIs set to Average.
Auto-pilot
Auto-pilot only seems to work when you are viewing a sector that contains a ship on auto. If you aren’t watching a ship it will often stay parked – sometimes just for 3 or 4 turns, but usually until you take control of the ship again. This is happening with View Auto-pilot (?) turned on in the main screen (not Options).
Restricted Exploration Event at UP
UP voted to restrict anomalies. Within a dozen turns the Torians and Drengins control/own/influence the vast majority of sectors. (This included one sector where I had a heavily populated Class 31 planet and another, lesser system while the Torians only had a single system with a sparsely populated Class 17 planet. It also included all empty, or star-less, sectors.) Because the empty sectors were controlled, my survey ships were no longer able to explore anomalies outside my own sectors. This was particularly frustrating because a) I couldn't explore the many anomalies that the AIs were ignoring in empty sectors, and
while I met the criteria to control maybe 10 to 12 sectors, in the game I only controlled three or four sectors – all dressed up and nowhere to explore.
Shouldn’t empty sectors be treated as uncontrolled for the purpose of determining ownership of anomalies? If not, the UP event text should be changed to reflect this limitation.
Early Influence
Sector influence seems to be following a wave pattern, alternating between evenly distributed influence and “swells” of influence that give ownership of most sectors to the Torians or Drengin.
I was close enough to the Torians to see that they weren’t building cultural starbases all over the place, but because the Drengin were on the other side of the galaxy, I thought it was possible that they had gone on a constructor binge. Later in the game, however, I sent a couple of freebie scout ships over to examine the Drengin side of the map and found out that was not the case. Do the AIs get bonuses to influence early in the game?
I haven’t had any warnings about defections, so I kept playing through the influence imbalance. I’ll keep the save game for a while in case these are bugs.
End transmission.
