Trading for planets bug

I've heard people complain that minor civs trade away all their planets too easily. I've found a bug that may go towards explaining that. I started talking to a minor civ with two planets to see if I could trade for one of them. When got to everything I could trade, the text stayed yellow. If I switched which planet I was asking for, still yellow. But if I asked for both planets, everything went green and the trade went through!

Hopefully, this will help you pinpoint the problem.

You can get everything from major civilization too,

with a trade good ask for everything plus the max cash they have for something stupid like 469993925 months and the give it to you.

The problem isn't specifically that it's a planet, it's that the value of the items you're trading overflowed the datatype GalCiv uses for it.

Trading 1bc a month for 4,294,967,296 months would accomplish the same thing.

Exactly done that as well if a civilization had only cash ask them for cash for an insane amount of months.

i ve seen this only if morale on those planets are low and if i get major influence in this sector or if they got good relatioons with me... and at least i ve always to give one trading good for two planets or loads od tech

oky i didn't say anything you're right i try this...

so there is a value for everything...

i can exchange 100 Bc and ask for 100 they will give it to me only if i ask them a tribute on 2600000 or 26000000 months before they didn't want...

so we can ask money they want to give it to us only if they paid an amazing number of month...

same thing for their planets can buy them for 1 bc and XXXX month they will hand them over to you...

this work for all the attitude and i try it on dumb, idiot and average i will try on genius and smart after...

the best thing is when those races are wiped out (after you buy them out) you continue to get and give tribut to those races... LOL

this bug didn't work with minor nation

another thing is when you take control of a planet you can produce and use units and city improvements only if they were in production at the time you take control of the planet... you can't chose them in the list but still produce them... weird!!!

'this bug didn't work with minor nation'

The bug does work with minor races, you just have to use different numbers. The value of a trade is influenced by the diplomacy rating of the AI and your diplomacy. Trade ratings may also be a factor (or at least Brad suggested that the Mercantile party did get a bonus on trade via diplomacy a few betas back).

Maybe the maximum tribute should be reduced to 9999 and the maximum longth to 999. Anything longer is a bit silly anyway.

This should close off the overflow.

The maximum tribute already seems to have been set to 9999bc/mo.

I reported this same bug a while back (at the time I was using 65536bc for 65536 mo., which comes out to the exact value I noted above) and the next beta wouldn't let me request a five digit tribute. I didn't think to check the duration, though.
