Why buy the premium expansion rather than getting Drengin net???

I was wondering the same thing. I think I'll buy the Drengin.net access.

Actually the $29.95 upgrade price is only temporary. It goes to $34.95 on Monday so it won't be only $10 much difference much longer.

I sense a sudden rush of Drengin.net upgrades (including mine!)

I wonder when the decision to increase the upgrade price was made.

Actually the plan was to put the price back to $34.95 on November 1 but we kind of fell behind on that.

Well, there is still an important piece of information missing: What other games is Stardock planning to release to drengin.net in the next year?

- When is "The Policial Machine" going to be released?

- What is the estimated release date for "Elemental", of which I've only seen a screenshot.

Speaking of upgrading to drengin.net, I was thinking of things that could be added to drengin.net, but wouldn't be much work.

- a site that lists collection of free/open source games. The offer currently extends only to "indie developers" on a royalty basis. There probably would need to be some sort of review system, as some free games are quite good, although most aren't worth downloading. I've never seen a "one stop source" for free/open source games.

- a PBEM server; most of the source code is already free; the only cost would be bandwidth.

Pol Machine is targeting May. We will put all our game develolpers on it to make that date if necessary since it's time sensitive.

Elemental probably won't show up in the next 18 months.

Ironically there is the possibility that a GalCiv II would show up in that 18 months (almost certainly the beta would) but we're not promising that.

I am hoping that we can start to get some indie developers in there. Drengin.net was really mainly designed to help indie developers get more widely distributed. We hadn't really intended to provide the exclusive content so that will be one area we plan to really focus on in the next 18 months.

How do you update your metaverse registration after subscribing to drengin.net?

I went to my empire and clicked on my name to get my list of scores, then clicked on my name again there. It takes you to the registration page where you can add your drengin.net code and any new scores now appear alongside your previous ones.

I just noticed that you dont have an empire, so just click on your name in the title to your post to get to your profile.

After that you should come and join us in the Cooperative

But I have a 56k modem! It's going to take forever to download everything. Is there any option to get a CD?

We should have a "snapshot" CD soon. Drengin 2004 but it won't be out until around the time of the expansion pack.

I'm going to do just the PE. I'm not so gung ho about all the other games and, frankly, would likely forget I had the subscription in the first place.

I was thinking about this question myself, Drengin.net or paid expansion. Well, I finally went after Drengin.net because Stardock has kept on supporting Galciv and I have been around long enough to see 8 or 9 updates over the last several months. Sure, there were kinks being worked out along the way and it wasn't all a bed of roses, but they kept trying to make the game better. That is all I could ask in the end. Besides, the other games might be very interesting. (I am also looking forward to Political Machine later.) This company has shown some serious dedication to their products, and a lot of their bets hinge on a subscription based system because of the time delays and quirkiness of the retail market. I gave them a chance for months and things worked out in the end. May as well go the distance. For a variety of reasons, it came down to in for a penny, in for a pound.

I upgraded to drengin.net instead of pre-ordering the expansion.

The change from galciv to drengin serials seems effortless which was a relief, though I'll be 100% sure when I next submit a game .

Gerakken, to quote one if my fellow players (Merilokki) "You hit the nail with the monkey", if a company has shown the record that Stardock has (from TCM to GalCiv) and has the dedication to Strategy games...why not just subscribe
