I'm hopeless: Beta 4 considerations

Playing 4A...
All opponents to genius, random alignement, Huge galaxy, occasional planets,...
Populist + 8 Points on research.

As soon as I get in contact with other races they are far more superior than me in techs, population, ships, starbases, ...

Simply I cannot understand HOW can it happen in a relatively small number of turns.
The thing that get me crazy also is that they have a huge number of constructors while I'm still building my firs one :(

Please Brad, tell me your AI cheats. Please! :sniff!:

BTW, I reaffirm that the AI should NOT know where planets and resources are. This way it saves a lot of efforts.

Secondly I find unfair that if I try to trade techs with AIs I have to overpay them while trading techs between AIs seems to be made on a peer to peer basis and so they effectively get a lot of research throughput.
I'd suggest that AI should try to get more techs than those given possibly leading to not exchanging techs.

Let me know your toughts and experiences.

the ai cheats have been already discuss...

from what brad says :

on average the ai have 10 abilities points like us
on smart 12
on genius 15

the other thing is said better than me :

"On Smart level the AI starts doing things that no human would really do. And no we won't automate those things for human players.

What sorts of things? Like optimizing their spend rates based on what projects rae getting completed. We humans with a constructor being built on a planet with 40 military production per turn will not change our spending rates even though the constructor might only need 10 more IUs to be built. The computer player will look at all their planets each turn and figure out what is the optimal spending rate. This can make a difference that we humans won't do.

They are also much more efficient at trading. They will check, EVERY turn to see if they can trade tech with their friends. "

knowing in advance where all the best habitable planets are also helps a great deal. We waste a lot of game-turn time finding them and we don't find them in optomised order. However, they are supposed to know where they are, the have lived here for milenia us humans have just turned up like intergalactic refugees (I think).

I honestly don't have a problem with this I just reduce the difficulty till I get a good game - usually dumb LOL

mind you, coming across an ancient starmap on a planet or floating spacehulk would be nice :d

I've missed many threads lately...
Thanks for the summary :)

I can accept that AI makes things I wouldn't but I want to be set on pair about that great advantage they have by knowing where good planets/resouces are.

Perhaps sensor could give at least the type of the suns in the galaxy...
I also like the starmap idea :) :)

for me i didn't mind that they know where are the good planets... but i'm just playing smart never try genius...

the thing is for overun this on the first turn i boost my military expenses, wait a turn buy a scout and generally boost mys speed by 5 or 10 abilitiy point...

the thing is i have best chance to won when the setings for the map are gig and rare or uncommon

:)
