Hey! What gives

I was looking through the posts and stumbled onto this one. Be sure to at least read the bottom half.

If I understand correctly, a player who plays a custom race is always at a disadvantage because they don't have an inherent special ablility? Is this correct, does anyone know? I mean I was planning on putting some scores on the metaverse once I got my internet situation sorted out, but if I have to play one of the predefined races, I don't know if I would want to (yes I know you can change just about everything about the races, but I want to play MY race)

Are all the inherent bonuses 20% to something? Would it be cheating to mod my custom race with an inherent specail ability comparable to that of the built in races.

If anyone knows the answers to these questions I'd really appreciate a response

Thanks,
Ernst

Anyone care to comment on this? (especially any of the devs who have time)

Quote from Frogboy (dev) in the forum string you were referring to:

IF the player plays as the Drengin, they get those bonuses too. Each race has its own native advantages. The Terran Alliance get a diplomacy ability (so do players when they play them). The Custom race gets a +25% soldiering bonus AND a bonus to trade and research.

Is that what you were looking for?

Oh I must have missed that. Is there any way to change (the way I play a 25% soldiering bonus is useless) that and have it still be legitamate for metaverse play, if not thats something I really think they should include in later updates. I know you can change the default races to suit you're needs, but I want to play my race.

Sorry - I have no idea on that one. My knowledge (as my medals below would indicate) is limited...

No. Built in are built in, and you aren't allowed to edit the .xml files in the metaverse. You can clear all but the base abilities, and spend 10 points on what you like if it helps.
