Cheater needs help!

I know we aren't supposed to.

I have followed the wiki/ and all other procedures to all the game cheats but nothing has worked. Is there something simple I'm missing here? From the desktop launch icon I right click, get to properties and add the word cheat after the launch command line...with a space even! But nothing I've tried so far works. Has anybody had success with this?
Yes I know I am a bad person for cheating but just want to experiment a little with diff techs and really can't spend hour upon hour researching them. I would be so great full if anyone could help me on this extremely frustrating matter.

Out!

The icon on your desktop may point to the GC2Launch.exe instead of the galciv2.exe. Big difference.

Try running it from the Run line.

Open the Windows Start menu, go to Run, browse to the folder where galciv2.exe is. At the end of the line add the word 'cheat' (no quotes).

Example: G:\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe cheat

Well I made this wrong. I did it to the GalCiv2 in the game folder, then made a shortcut of it on the Mainscreen, and when I started the game, all the text had dissapearet from the Menues, even inside a loaded game. When I went back and removed the 'Cheat' (Example of what it was before: "I:\Galactic Civilization 2\GalCiv2\GC2Launch.exe" Cheat )

Ive been trying to repair it, reinstall and full uninstall, then install, but the bug is still there! Can't play with it
Please, help + be wery "How to do it for Dummies"- like when saying HOW to make the cheat work, for as you can see, something went wrong for me.

Make a shortcut of the game. DO NOT MOVE THE GAME. it breaks it. With a shortcut made, right click on the shortcut and click "properties". Delete the Target field, and paste this :
"I:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe" cheat

The launcher causes it not to work. It must be that path to run, and don't modify the original in any way.

Even though, that dosn't explaine why the bug is still there though I uninstallet the whole game and then reinstallet. Or how to fix it for that matter.

Oh FINALLY got the bug fixed!. I tried to Write "I:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe" cheat in the shortcut of the "GalCiv2" - Starter file (The file that starts the game without the menu in the begenning), but it wont let me enter it, saying that it dosn't regornize the name.

guess it would have been quicker to research the techs after all.
