Installing on another PC?

I wanted to install GC2 on my laptop so when I'm travelling I can still play. I get a message saying the SID doesn't match. So basically I have to buy another copy (like I would) for my laptop to play a game I already bought? What happens if my PC crashes or I reinstall the OS? I'm just screwed?

For "not having copy protection", this is some pretty severe copy protection.

SDC includes the activation record when you archive (saves you from reactivating when you install it back on the same PC). All you need to do is delete the sig.bin file in the GalCiv2 directory and you will get a one-time activation prompt when you run GC2, which will allow the game to generate a new sig.bin file (just put in your email and serial at the prompt and you're good to go).
