How do I get minor civs to peacefully join my empire?

How do I peacefully get minor civs to join my empire. I know I can conquer them, but I assume there is a way to peacefully do this - so how?

Influence is usually the best way. If you have a star base near it, load up on all the cultural upgrades. If you don't have a star base near it, send a constructor there and do the same thing. Also build wonders and things that increase your prestige (I think star prestige is also related to your influence).

I do want to add a little note to this. This was doable in the previous beta, but I haven't played with 3Z or 3Z-1 to know if its still the same. Good luck!!

One other way that worked on builds prior to 3z is to trade for their planets. I haven't tried this on 3z1 yet and there was some effort to convince Brad to change the code to prevent it, so we will have to see if it still works.

You can get them to join you through cultural influence. That's probalby the best way. They are VERY resistant to it but it can be done.

Minor races will not trade for a planet.

I offered a every minor race at one time 4 wonders about 15-20 technologies and asked for a minor planet and they refused.

I guess because they were limited from expanding through the galaxy they are coded to want to keep their planets. Also they do not cough up cash in a trade like they used to.

To me minor races are just becoming a source to practice invading planets, even if I am playing good.

Major races have no problem with trading for planets.
