Game Exploit

Game Paradox

I’ve noticed that if your invasion fails while using a destructive bombardment, no improvements are destroyed but you still get the combat bonus during the combat. So the exploit is to invade a large planet with one transport at a time using bombardment and when the planet is about to fall, use enough troops to do a normal invasion.

The Paradox is the game was designed so that you could not bombard without invading. They could have the improvments destroyed no matter who wins but this would still not stop players from sending in suidie missions to bombard a planet. The only way to stop the exploit is to allow bombardments, which defeats the original design.

I don't think this problem is unsolvable. Make the damage to the planet proportional to the number of defending people killed. This would prevent the exploit where you use mass drivers with one soldier: it won't kill many enemies, and it won't do much damage. It also prevents the existing exploit: if you use mass drivers and kill lots of defenders but don't win the batlle, it will do a lot of damage.

Yeah this has been there since day one. I'm sure the devs are aware of it. Who knows. They may plug it in the next major release after they take a couple of hours off from v1.1

I really doubt its even consider an exploit. more like working as designed. this has been brought up many, many times. - - its still working that way! So I wouldn't bet on it.

Personally I would rather that tiles be rendered red or orange (indicating that you need to use soil enhancement on those tiles before they are usable) as a result of damaging planetary invasion tactics- that would deal with the (rather implausible, imho) issue of NEVER being able to repair your planet, no matter how highly you have advanced... not even if you are one step away from achieving godhood via technological victory.

It would ALSO deal with the issue of someone coming onto this forum every few days and posting "OMG MASS DRIVERS DON'T DAMAGE THE PLANET IF YOU FAIL YOUR INVASION!"

.

There is always the potential that you will accidentally win the battle while using mass drivers.

Great Idea.
